Carolina Catholic chats with Deacon John Walsh about the Basilica Shrine of St. Mary

For our first October show, we chat with Deacon John Walsh about the history, art, and architecture of the Basilica Shrine of St. Mary here in Wilmington. Through the efforts of many priests, this beautiful church was not only built in 1912, but these priests also helped build a school and a rectory, they bought the Tileston Center where so many wonderful ministries serve the people to this day, and they worked to make this magnificent church elevated to both a shrine and a minor basilica. In this show, we learn about the pastors who did so much to make our beautiful basilica shrine a place of pilgrimage and worship for all Catholics.

This show will air on Wilmington Catholic Radio's four stations, 91.7 FM, 93.1 FM, and 103.1 FM in Wilmington and 100.7 FM in Southport on the first two weekends of October, Saturdays at 11 am and Sundays at 6 pm.

Wilmington Catholic Radio is an apostolate serving the Catholic Church and consistently operating in accord with the principles and truths of the Catholic Faith as expressed in Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition and the living Magisterium of the Church. Our goal is to always provide the community with solid Catholic teaching so Catholics can have an easy way to learn more about their faith, and for non-Catholics to learn what the Church really teaches. This is our mission.
