Carolina Catholic chats with Sister Dede Byrne about euthanasia and the documentary, No Mercy
For our second December show, we speak again to Sister Deidre Byrne, POSC, who is the Mother Superior of her order based in Washington DC, The Little Workers of the Sacred Hearts, as well as a retired Army colonel and a double-board certified MD in family medicine and surgery. Sister 'Dede' joins us to discuss the tragic story of her close friend, Sister Philip Marie Burle, who allegedly became a victim of 'stealth euthanasia' at a Catholic nursing home despite not being terminally ill (Sr. Philip Marie had a chronic illness, crest syndrome, not a terminal illness.) In her roles as both a physician and nun, Sister Dede will explain the Catholic teaching on dying and why we should all be vigilant about end of life care for us and our families.Sister Dede is also the subject of a 2024 biography called Sister, Soldier, Surgeon.
This show will air on Wilmington Catholic Radio's three stations, 91.7 FM, 93.1 FM, and 103.1 FM on Saturdays at 11 am and Sundays at 6 pm on the weekends of December 14 and 21. You can listen on-line live by clicking on the Listen Now tab. Or, listen 24/7 by going to the Carolina Catholic tab and clicking on the show page.
