April's Teaching Moment

Many Catholics have embraced wearing the Brown Scapular of Mount Carmel, knowing Our Lady’s promise to St. Simon Stock, that “Whoever dies in this garment, will not suffer everlasting fire. It is the sign of salvation, a safeguard in dangers, a pledge of peace and of the covenant.” This sign of consecration to Mary’s Immaculate Heart keeps us under her special protection, as we learn from true stories. Venerable Francis Ypes shared that when his scapular fell off, the devil scowled at him saying, “Take off the habit which snatches so many souls from us!”  When a shepherd was struck by lightening in 19th century Italy, his entire body was charred and his clothes burned except for his scapular, and he eventually made a full recovery thanks to Our Lady’s Brown Scapular. A French priest shot in the back during Mass was saved by his Brown Scapular. So may devoutly wearing Our Lady’s Brown Scapular protect you and your family from all harm and bring you into everlasting life.
