July's Teaching Moment
As Catholics, for centuries, we have genuflected by touching our knee to the floor in reverence. What’s the proper way to genuflect upon entering the Church? The General Instruction on the Roman Missal states that “A genuflection, made by bending the right knee to the ground, signifies adoration, and therefore it is reserved for the Most Blessed Sacrament. When we enter a church, we genuflect before the tabernacle which acknowledges God as our host and expresses thanks for the invitation that draws us into communion with His Son.
Any place where the Blessed Sacrament is reserved in the church, one genuflects toward the tabernacle when entering and leaving the church and pew. And everyone should genuflect when crossing in front of the tabernacle, and when the Blessed Sacrament is exposed, it’s customary to genuflect on both knees and bow. Genuflection is basically how we should show our love for Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
Carolina Catholic chats with Sister Dr. Dede Byrne, POSC, and Dr. Stacy Trasancos, Children of God for Life
For our first July show which marks the 15th year anniversary of Carolina Catholic, Tara Lewis and I interviewed our two guests, Sister Dede Byrne (sister, surgeon, and retired colonel in the U.S. Army) and Dr. Stacy Trasancos (mother of seven, theologian, and chemist). In this show, we learn more about Sister Dede and how Washington DC health authorities originally rejected her application for a religious exemption regarding the Covid vaccine, and we also speak to both Sister and Stacy about the various Covid vaccines and medical treatments, the work of Children of God for Life where Stacy is the Chief Research Officer, and about the Dobbs case soon to be decided by the SCOTUS regarding abortion.
This show will air on Wilmington Catholic Radio's three stations, 91.7 FM, 93.1 FM, and 103.1 FM on Saturdays at 11 am and Sundays at 6 pm on the first two weekends of July. Carolina Catholic chats with Janet Morana from Priests for Life about her newest book and the upcoming SCOTUS decision regarding abortion
For our second June show, my guest is the executive director of Priests for Life, Janet Morana, whose newest book is called, Everything You Need to Know About Abortion-For Teens. Janet has been working full-time in the pro-life movement for over three decades, and she is also the co-founder of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign. In her newest book, Janet lays out the history of abortion in the USA from the earliest rulings to Roe v. Wade, and she brings her meticulous research to life by sharing heart-wrenching stories of post-abortive women. This book is not only for teens; it is a well-researched book about the issue of abortion and will make us even stronger in our support of the unborn and their right to life. She also comments on what we can expect when the official opinion on the Dobbs' case is released in June 2022.
This show will air on Wilmington Catholic Radio's three stations, 91.7 FM, 93.1 FM, and 103.1 FM on Saturdays at 11 am and Sundays at 6 pm on the second two weekends of June.
